Maya if you have a bad burn, it will take some TLC. Whatever the degree, you must moisturize (Aloe Vera, or something thick, even vaseline). This will help prevent the peeling ugly skin we all hate to see and peel off.
This may take about a week with daily showering, be gentle.

Please try and not get any sunburn as it has been proven a cancer risk.
Enjoy your outdoor activities with sunscreen of at least 30 or more protection on newly burned skin. Wear something over the burned area to protect the raw skin.

Wear a very high SPF sunblock and you will be fine going outside. As for healing it depends on how fair your skin is, it could take a couple of days to a week. The fairer you are (if you freckle) the longer it takes.

Good luck.

Well ... if you moisturise it and cover with after sun every day, it should become a tan in 1 week. I am in this situation as well as this moment and only my arms and neck are tanned so by tan is uneven so the answer is too sunbath the rest as much as possible if that happens to you. Hope i helped!
